Biomes

Our topic this term is biomes. So far we have looked at; Deciduous, Rainforest, Taiga and Tundra.

In the blog choose an animal and explain how you think it is suited to a biome.

  1. The Arctic fox lives in the Tundra and and it adapts in its habitat because of its silky white fur so it can camoflage. Also it's fur is very thick because it can then stay warm in the snow and the ice. It also has sharp claws and teeth to kill animals like arctic hares and they can then have really good grip on the ice. BY KAVIN

  2. The jaguars are suited to the rain forest as most jaguars are tan or orange with distinctive black spots, dubbed rosettes because they are shaped like roses. It is also suited to keep them warm as today people still may be hunting for them.Jaguars are suited in the rain forest because there is so many trees and they are good and there is a river and they are really good at swimming.

  3. Monkeys

Monkeys are suited to the biome Rainforest because they have fur around them to keep them warm in the rain because when it rains it is quite cold. They are also suited to the rainforest because they have fruits and nuts there to eat. There are no humans there to kill them. They can weigh up to 10kg. They spend most of their time in the canopy which is above 40 feet above the ground, they spend most of their time in the trees.

  4. BIOMES

    ANIMAL: DROMEDARY CAMEL

    BIOME: DESERT

    DROMEDARY CAMELS HAVE:

Single hump composed of fat reserve. This serves as energy when they go for long periods without food. It prevents the camel from starving and becoming dehydrated.

Thick lips to allow consumption of dry thorny plants.

Large, flat feet to spread their weight on the sand and allow them to walk across sand dunes.

Thick leathery pads on the bottom of their feet which allows them to walk on the hot desert ground.

Thick fur on the top of the body for shade, and thin fur elsewhere to allow easy heat loss.

Long eyelashes, bushy eyebrows, fur-lined ears and sealing nostrils to protect them against sandstorms.

  6. my animal is a grey wolf wolf and I think it would fit in the taiga as it has food can hide in snow it also has water and the only predators I can think of are man and bear so he is quit safe and it is the biggest biome so it has a large hunting ground and can escape predator's and that's what I think

  7. Penguin
Their bodies are streamlined to reduce drag in water. Their wings, shaped like flippers, also help them "fly" underwater at speeds up to 15 mph. Penguins have to keep high body temperatures to remain active. They have thick skin and lots of fat (blubber) under their skin to keep warm in cold weather.

  8. A frog can live in either a rainforest or by freshwater depending on what specie it is. A tree frog is suited to living in the rainforest because it can camouflage with the trees to be safe from any predators. Other frogs however live in freshwater, this suites them because they have things on their feet like swimming flippers, which is something we normally put on our feet to give our body a boost in swimming. Frogs eyes adapt and can help see clearly in dim conditions. Due to the fact that there are many different kinds of frogs, they live everywhere except for Antarctica

  9. Monkey I think that the rain forest is the best biom because it has lost of trees and I know that monkeys jump on trees also bananas grow on trees so I think that it is the best
    Biom for a monkey.

  10. Cheetah
a cheetah has a good biome for it because it has fur that blends into the grass. But if it was not in the grassland it would not be able to blend in. Also its fur is short to match the heat. The grassland also has a good floor to hunt on.

  11. I have chosen a penguin. It lives in the tundra. It is suited to this biome because penguins are living in 45 to 50 degrees and if it went to a hot country like Bangladesh it would get very hot because of its fur and it will probably die. Penguins are more suited in a extreme cold temperatures like in Antarctica and will survive easily because of its thick layers of fur. Also penguins eat a certain type of food that is krill which is only found in very cold places. Also again if a penguin was taken to a hot country like Bangladesh it wouldn’t be able to find the right food to eat.

  12. Foxes are available in the taiga biome.
They are available over there because they have very protective fur so they do't get cold

Arctic tundra animals do not enjoy the luxury of simply heading into thick forests to escape the biting wind. Some, like the Caribou, to head south to enjoy those forests at least part if the year. Animals in the tundra survive thanks to harboring multiple defenses against the paralyzing cold they do share a common approach to surviving the arctic cold – they hang out in groups.

  14. The arctic fox is suited to the tundra as it has thick fur to keep it warm, the fact that its fur is white helps it camouflage to hide from its prey. Their small ears help them hear their prey moving. They have small ears to keep the heat in them. The arctic fox’s fur changes colour throughout the year so they can blend in with the changing seasons. Its increased blood circulation helps keeps its feet from freezing to the ice.

  15. Deciduous Deers:

White-tailed deer can be found in southern Canada, throughout most of the United States and into South America. They can live in a variety of habitats. The deers blend in the deciduous forest by the colour of the fur and some orange/brown leafs on the ground.
